My aunt and uncle came to visit me today, and we went to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. This is what they gave me for dessert.

And of course, this can’t be a post about sushi if I don’t actually show some sushi, so here’s a photo of salmon nigiri:

I had a lot of that

This restaurant is way too expensive

You might’ve seen from yesterday that I went out with some of Tempo Storm’s professional gamers to an indoor rock climbing facility. After we wrapped that up, we went out to get some dinner at a restaurant the manager picked – a Japanese grill called Shin-Sen-Gumi. Because this was his event that he coordinated and put together for his players, I went along with it … and soon realized that he had picked out a peculiarly expensive restaurant.

The prices were somewhat deceptive – the portion sizes were surprisingly small, some of which literally only came with three bites of meat for US$8.50.

The final bill came out to be over US$382 for a party of five. After clarifying with the manager that I was absolutely not the one who had picked out this restaurant, I wished him the best of luck in justifying his choice of restaurant when submitting his company reimbursement.

Dinner date with Soma

Soma recently joined Tempo Storm as our new Chief Creative Officer. He was in the Southern California area, so we met up with a group of Tempo Storm staff members and got dinner.

Dinner with Soma

I was hoping to get some decent vlog footage from this, but this was a restaurant inside a hotel and the lighting was so bad that it didn’t really work out.

I haven’t really been posting much lately because I’ve been trying to recover from being out and about for over a month. I’ve historically been someone to sit peacefully at home doing an office-like job and not going out and about a lot, so being at consecutive events and conventions with constant human interaction seems to have been a lot more taxing than I thought it would be.

A blue rare burger

I like my meat cooked medium rare, but when I order it as medium rare, it usually doesn’t come out medium rare. Historically, most restaurants overcook the meat so it ends up closer to medium than medium rare.

Because of that, I’ve developed a strategy to request meat cooked rare instead of medium rare. Then, the meat usually ends up closer to medium rare. In the cases that I run into restaurants that actually cook the meat properly rare, then that’s fine as well, because I’m ok with rare meat also.

A while back, scarra got me dinner with one of my friends, and to return the favor, I took him out to dinner last night. The restaurant we went to was a bit different … I asked for my burger cooked rare, and I ended up getting a blue rare burger.

Hamburger with fries

It was still pretty good.
