You have cancer

You know how it’s a running joke how you should never search for your symptoms online if you have any health issues, because websites like WebMD will always tell you that you have cancer?

I feel like that’s a way for the website to have a legal out, if anything. Sure, they might have disclaimers saying that WebMD should not be used in substitution for a real consultation with a licensed doctor or other certified medical practitioner, but I feel like they’re taking it a step further and covering themselves in case something goes wrong. By always having that “you have cancer” option in the results, WebMD can technically never be under fire by someone with cancer saying “I searched for my symptoms on WebMD and they said I was fine, but I actually have cancer.”

By this point, I’ve heard about this so often that the “you have cancer” thing is like a meme. But, it’s funny when running into that search result actually ends up happening to you.

I woke up with some severe neck pain this morning, and when I searched for what might possibly be wrong, Google’s featured result told me that I have cervical spine cancer.

The “WebMD will always tell you that you have cancer” meme actually really happens.

Runaway prisoner

Dinner date with Soma

Soma recently joined Tempo Storm as our new Chief Creative Officer. He was in the Southern California area, so we met up with a group of Tempo Storm staff members and got dinner.

I was hoping to get some decent vlog footage from this, but this was a restaurant inside a hotel and the lighting was so bad that it didn’t really work out.

I haven’t really been posting much lately because I’ve been trying to recover from being out and about for over a month. I’ve historically been someone to sit peacefully at home doing an office-like job and not going out and about a lot, so being at consecutive events and conventions with constant human interaction seems to have been a lot more taxing than I thought it would be.

I don’t really have any photos from BlizzCon

For me, BlizzCon is generally a scramble to get editorial work done as quickly as possible. Tempo Storm’s attendance at BlizzCon depends heavily on the quantity and quality of BlizzCon coverage from the previous year(s), so having sufficient good content up in a timely manner is important, not just for now, but for future convention years.

So, I usually end up spending a majority of my time attending offline panels, sitting in the media room uploading, then recharging in my hotel room. As a result, I didn’t really have many photos taken.

I do have one from when Tempo Storm’s Heroes of the Storm team was playing against Fnatic in the third game of a best-of-three series. Tempo Storm HotS had taken a game off Fnatic, but were in the process of getting reverse swept. I tweeted the photo out with the caption “pls no lose,” but my hopes didn’t come true, because this was the game after which Tempo Storm got eliminated.

However, I’m happy to announce that the convention grind is finally over. I almost had to extend my grind by accompanying our PLAYER­UNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS team to a boot camp in Santa Monica, CA, then to Intel Extreme Masters in Oakland, but luckily, our house manager was able to cover for me for that, so I finally get to relax.

Now it’s finally time to unwind for a bit, recover from over a month of field work (which I am very not used to, seeing as I usually just work peacefully from my desk), and catch up on everything I’ve missed over the past month.
