Live Support Chat Removed

The Live Support Chat feature has been taken off my website. For those of you wondering why, here is a general breakdown of how people were using the live support.

In total, I received 82 incoming chat requests.

31 (37.8%) were from friends that had nothing website-related to talk about, and could have instant messaged me instead.

20 (24.4%) disconnected without saying anything.

18 (22.0%) were from people that called me gay, commented about my sexuality or appearance, stated how horrible my website was without justification, or asked for sexual favors.

10 (12.2%) were legitimate questions or comments about my website.

2 (2.4%) made death threats (guess who has their IP address).

1 (1.2%) said he dialed the wrong number.

The live chat wasn’t the only thing being abused, there were people leaving pointless offline messages as well. In total, I received 148 offline messages via the support interface.

94 (63.5%) were from the same person saying "R U GAY?" over and over again.

18 (12.2%) were friends talking about things irrelevant to my website that could have emailed me, left an offline instant message, or contacted me through a social networking website.

15 (10.1%) were spam or advertising for Viagra.

12 (8.1%) were from other people that called me gay, said my website sucked, or asked how long my penis was.

4 (2.7%) were death threats.

3 (2.0%) had to do with x10Hosting, which should have been posted as a support ticket on the official x10Hosting support site.

1 (0.7%) was a legitimate question related to my wesite.

1 (0.7%) was a link to child pornography on 4Chan. Poor girl doesn’t even know what she’s doing to herself.

Don’t expect live support chat to ever come back.

My parents went after-Christmas shopping today and bought this.

It’s popcorn.

Apparently, the cashier didn’t know that it was popcorn, saw the Miller Lite logo, and thought it was beer. Their store policy requires manager approval for alcoholic beverage transactions to be made after age verification. She didn’t ask for my dad’s identification because he’s obviously older than 21 years, so she called her manager over right away so the transaction could be done.

I’m sure it was a genuine mistake, but how does someone make a mistake thinking that beer comes in a giant aluminum cylindrical container, 10 inches in height and 8 inches in diameter? o__O

I think we got over a foot of snow today, because there was about a foot on the driveway that I had to clear off. Luckily, thanks to our new too-powerful-for-its-own-good snowblower, I was able to finish the job in about 25 minutes.

I spent the day at the family business today. Except for when I went to eat, go to the bathroom, or find out what someone was complaining about, this is essentially what I saw all day (a view from the chair in the office):

I found some MORE BOOTS.

Five Minutes in My Head by Adam Parkzer - Wednesday, December 23, 2009

They’re a lot more comfy than the boots I found three days ago. And they don’t have odd marks on the tips.

And I think they’re steel-toed, so I can go around kicking people’s shins and not hurt my toes.
