“Facebook Friends – Results” – Methods of Scientific Inquiries @ IMSA

The survey responses of twenty IMSA males and twenty IMSA females show that the number of friends they had on Facebook ranged from 20 to 375. After an f-test was done on the raw data, it was shown that no significant difference was present between the variances. The degree of freedom for both data categories was 19 and the f-stat was about 0.930. The probability was about 0.438, meaning the chance that these differences were due to random luck is approximately 43.8%. Upon completing the t-test, it was concluded that there was no significant difference between the means of the two data sets (t = 1.686, df = 38, P = 0.217).
