Topic #102: What do you want to accomplish with your blog? What is it for?

I’ve been asked this question quite a bit before, mostly by people who oppose me and claim that my blog will end up doing me no good. I’ve thought about it before and have come up with many different reasons, but I’ve managed to narrow it down to two basic core reasons.

The first is for myself. Since I was little, I liked to write about things that happened during my day. I liked to write in general, but I didn’t always have or could come up with good things to write about, so I just wrote about interesting things that I observed or did. This started off as somewhat of a diary in a notebook; after doing this for a while, I moved on to the computer. Years after I wrote my first diary entry, I decided to make a public blog to keep track of what I’ve been doing day-by-day, hoping that it will end up becoming a good memoir of how I grew up.

The second reason is for the entertainment of my readers. Of course, not all my blog posts are interesting or funny, but I like to think back about things that have happened to me and construct a recap in a form of a comedic anecdote. Luckily for me, it appears like a decent number of people enjoy reading my stories. I think that my blog basically gives others a window into the life of a nineteen-year-old university student. My readers can either get an idea of what might happen to them when they get older, relate to me, or think back about their days as a teenager.
